Girls and boys from Vallenar finish inclusive soccer tournament
  • The championship promoted by ISA INTERCHILE together with the Ganamos Todos Foundation and the Municipality of Vallenar, held its closing day in an initiative that promoted physical and sports activity in girls and boys in the commune of Vallenar, promoting teamwork, respect for others, and inclusion.

 

Vallenar, Thursday, August 4th, 2022.– In the Municipal Stadium Nelson Rojas in Vallenar, with the presence of the mayor Armando Flores, the season of the inclusive soccer tournament for school youth in the commune was concluded. The participants took part in the championship that promoted healthy habits through physical activity and cultivated values such as teamwork, respect for fair play, solidarity, integration and inclusion in the past few months.

The initiative organized by ISA INTERCHILE, Ganamos Todos Foundation, the Municipality of Vallenar, and with the support of the Local Public Education Service of Huasco (SLEP), sought to positively contribute to the cultural change of young people, celebrating sports activities and promoting a healthy lifestyle that was greatly affected by the health crisis. During the recreational day, recognition was given to the participating teams, and the awards ceremony was held.

Armando Flores Jiménez, mayor of Vallenar, highlighted that “it is of great importance for our commune to be able to carry out this championship in which we are working in an alliance between the municipality, the SLEP (Local Public Education Service) and of course ISA Interchile. They have provided the necessary resources to implement this sports practice, and we have provided the stadium as one of the infrastructures so that boys and girls can practice sports.”

Harold Mayne-Nicholls, former president of the ANFP (National Professional Football Association) and current president of Fundación Ganamos Todos, stated that “with this tournament, we conclude a great process in which girls and boys from Vallenar participated, sharing, having fun and integrating sports into their lives from an early age.”

For his part, Gabriel Melguizo, general manager of the electric transmission company ISA INTERCHILE, emphasized that “the work we have done as a company is a reflection of our efforts to integrate more and more into the territories in which we operate. Today, we conclude this initiative that we promoted as part of our articulation to generate inspiring connections and we can only say that we are happy to have organized and promoted this initiative together with the other entities and organizations that believed in this project.”

Since the start of this educational soccer tournament in Vallenar, more than 180 girls and boys from fifth to eighth grade from 10 schools and colleges in the commune participated. In addition, talks by prominent figures from Chilean soccer were held, and training was provided to coaches and referees for the development of sports activities.
